Chase and I bought a '07 Honda Element this weekend. We definitely needed a new vehicle and this one is perfect for us! We've prayed about buying a new car for a while now and it turns out that this past weekend was the perfect timing for such a purchase. I say we needed a new car because Chase's old Honda Accord was falling apart left and right. Within the last 8 months we've had to get his car a new transmission, new radiator, two of his windows had stopped working, his windshield wiper decided to fly off on the road in the middle of a rain storm one day, and just last week his gear shift sprung off and flew into multiple pieces around the car...all that to say, the new car purchase wasn't just a "want." My grandfather used to say "if the car isn't reliable then it's time for a new one"...so there you go Poppy, I hope you know we followed your advice. :)
The buying process was something Chase or I had never done by ourselves before, so there was a little feeling of "umm what are we doing!?!" ... but with all our past experience of sitting in dealerships with our parents (famous dad quote: "what can you get me for the tax, tag, and title out the door?"), purchasing our first cars with our parents co-signing, and with the help of Glenn at the dealership, we walked away feeling like we made an excellent deal. I also have to say that it was a pretty amazing feeling getting to do something this big with Chase. This is our first major purchase as a couple, and I'm just so happy he's the one I get to do this with.
Not only are we very pleased with the Element, but we also came to realize that Glenn (our salesman) knows someone Chase works with at the New Orleans Country Club...which helped us establish more of a relationship with him. Because we were able to make more of a relationship with him, other than the typical sales person/customer relationship, we were able to talk to him about God a little, invite him to church, and Chase is going to go golfing with him at some later date. Pretty awesome!
